Recent news coverage on the merger (dated 1/14/11) (I think it's crucial to provide a "here's where we're at now"-type link, but I had a tough time finding information that a) was published recently b) addresses how the merger plays into longer-term issues of net neutrality and c) discusses Level 3... I know there has to be an interesting, well-written piece out there that ties it all together, right? anyone?)
